Eater San Diego - New Cathedral-Inspired Club to Arise in the Gaslamp

More intel has emerged about the new nightclub destined for the former Red Circle space downtown. AD Nightclub is just embarking on a glamourous makeover that should be completed by mid-to-late March. SoCal design firm Davis Ink has been charged with the grand transformation; expect the 4,000-square-foot space to have an modern cathedral vibe, with tables encircling a large dance floor and multiple bars.

Managing partner Chris Martin (Bar West, Gaijin), Matt Bendik, the impressario behind Hollywood’s AV Nightclub, is also on the team, says that AD Nightclub will concentrate on the entire guest experience and “will not just be an EDM club”, and will also feature dancers and entertainment that they’re calling “live art”.

AD Club opened its doors in August 2014 and since then has been offering a full nightclub experience with craft cocktails, synchronized areal theatrics, the latest in music, eleven bottle service booths and a small bites menu. The 4,000 square-foot space is decorated with traditional cathedral and religious elements that give the venue a unique bold and daring design. For those who worship food, exclusive dining “pop-ups” events are hosted with popular chefs who create special prix-fix menus for the occasion. AD Club is a creation of Coronado, California entrepreneurs Bayless Cobb and Giana Loya.
