Foundation
The structural origins behind the work — grounded in real assets, global perspective, and multigenerational disciplines built from the ground up.
Coronado-born entrepreneur Bayless Cobb is the architect and principal behind the King Diamond Inc. brand. With an instinct for bringing people together and a network spanning real estate, finance, and hospitality, he assembles ventures with the same precision used to design enduring structures.
His work—diamonds and rare materials drawn from the ground, real estate developed and stewarded over time, and projects rooted in coastal locations—reflects a much older pattern.
That instinct is inherited.
As the son of a respected architect, Cobb was raised around form, structure, and execution.
As the grandson of a documented business operator whose work spanned energy, construction, finance, and global trade, Cobb’s foundation is rooted in verifiable institutions, enterprises, and assets built from the ground up.
Long before modern globalization, Cobb’s grandfather made his fortune extracting value directly from the earth through Southwestern Coal Company, then translating that capital into lasting real estate through Cobb Properties and Crown Construction Company. His work spanned energy, construction, and land development, creating tangible assets designed to endure. These enterprises established a foundation rooted in tangible assets, disciplined operations, and long-term capital stewardship.
His reach extended well beyond domestic markets during the mid-20th century, gaining firsthand exposure to global trade, logistics, and cross-border commerce. Drawn to international business, he operated directly in overseas commercial circles in China, Japan, and the Philippines, including service as an overseas agent for Lykes Brothers Steamship Line—gaining firsthand exposure to global trade, logistics, and cross-border commerce at a time when few Americans did.
That global perspective shaped how he saw place. He acquired rare and exotic real estate early—jewel property in Lanikai, Oahu, and oceanfront land in Roatán, Honduras—recognizing the long-term value of scarce coastline, infrastructure potential, and natural beauty well before these locations were widely regarded as world-class destinations.
Roatán is now considered one of the premier dive locations on the planet, famed for its reefs and whale sharks. Lanikai Beach on Oahu is consistently ranked among the best beaches globally by World’s 50 Best Beaches and USA Today.
Cobb applies this foundation through modern ventures spanning real estate development, diamonds and rare materials, hospitality, nightlife, and design—operating with a global, asset-driven, systems-first perspective.
